Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How heavy is too heavy for a period?

Soaking through a pad or tampon every hour, passing large clots, bleeding longer than 7 days, or bleeding that limits your daily life — any of these warrants assessment.

Is HRT safe?

For most healthy women with troublesome menopause symptoms, the benefits of HRT outweigh the risks, especially when started before 60. It is an individual decision made with your doctor.

I had bleeding after menopause — is it urgent?

Any bleeding after menopause needs prompt medical assessment. Most causes are benign, but it is the classic early warning sign of endometrial problems and must be checked.

How often do I need a Pap smear?

Screening is generally advised every 3–5 years for women aged 21–65, depending on the test used and previous results. If you have never been screened, start now.
