Privacy & Cookie Policy

This policy explains how Sugabi Medicare (Pvt) Ltd ("Sugabi Clinic", "we") handles information collected through the sugabi.lk website. It covers the website only — information you share with us during clinical care is handled under separate patient-confidentiality obligations. Information you keep in the Sugabi app is covered by the separate Sugabi App Privacy Policy.

Who we are

What we collect through this website

  • Contact form messages. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject and message so we can respond to your enquiry. Messages are stored securely on our server and emailed to our team. Please do not include medical details in a contact message.
  • Testimonials you submit. Our testimonial form collects your name, telephone or WhatsApp number, approximate month of visit, consultation category, your testimonial text, and your chosen display preference and publication consent. Your name and number are used only to verify your visit and are never published; only the testimonial text and the display format you selected may appear on the site, after review. You can request removal at any time.
  • Feedback you submit. Our feedback form stores the star rating and comment you provide. Please do not include personal or medical details in feedback.
  • Calculator inputs. The fertility, due-date and BMI calculators run entirely in your browser. The dates and measurements you enter are not sent to us or stored by us.

Ask Sugabi (website assistant)

Ask Sugabi answers general questions about pregnancy, fertility, women's health and the clinic, using information published on sugabi.lk. It does not give personal medical advice.

  • What is sent when you ask a question. Your question and the recent conversation (up to the last 12 messages) go from your browser to our server, and from our server to a third-party AI service that writes the reply. This service processes the question on servers outside Sri Lanka. We do not send your name, contact details or IP address to it. Please do not type your name, phone number, NIC number or other details that identify you.
  • On your device. Your conversation is saved in your browser so it is still there when you come back. It stays until you press “New chat” or clear your browser's data for this site.
  • On our server. We do not keep your conversations. If Ask Sugabi cannot answer a question, we record only the question text (up to 300 characters), the time and the reason — with no IP address or other identifying information — so we can improve our content. These records are kept for up to 12 months.
  • Preventing misuse. To limit automated abuse, we count the questions from each connection per hour using a one-way scrambled code instead of your IP address. These counts are deleted after one hour.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not ask you to submit medical information through this website.
  • We do not use advertising or social-media tracking pixels.

Cookie policy

Essential storage

This website does not set advertising cookies and does not show a consent banner, because our visitor statistics are cookie-free (see Analytics below). We use only the storage the site needs to work:

  • a session cookie while you use the contact, testimonial or newsletter forms, to protect them against misuse;
  • your Ask Sugabi conversation, saved in your browser (see Ask Sugabi above);
  • your answers in the Fertility Pathway tool, saved in your browser so you can continue later;
  • your language choice on the Sugabi app page.

Everything saved in your browser stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's data for this site.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit our pages and which pages are useful. It is a privacy-first service: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser and does not track you across other websites. It records only aggregate page-level information such as page URL, referrer, country, browser and device type. We cannot identify individual visitors from it. We do not use Google Analytics or any advertising or profiling service.

Third-party content

Some pages embed content from third parties — YouTube videos (loaded only when you press play, via YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode) and Google Maps on our location pages. When you interact with these, the provider may set its own cookies under its own policy.

Appointment booking

Appointment booking is handled by external channelling services (such as eChannelling or Doc990) linked from this site. Information you enter there is governed by those services' own privacy policies.

How long we keep data

Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your enquiry. Testimonial submissions are kept while the testimonial is published (or under review) and are deleted on request. Website feedback is kept only as long as needed to review and act on it. Unanswered Ask Sugabi questions are kept for up to 12 months. Cloudflare Web Analytics keeps only aggregate visit statistics, which cannot identify you.

Your rights

Under Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act (No. 9 of 2022), you may ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it. Email info@sugabi.lk — we respond within 21 working days.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top.
